Barnblitz
A rustic barn turned into a deadly maze of spinning blades and narrow escapes.
Barnblitz is a chaotic, industrial Capture the Flag map set within a sprawling, dilapidated barn complex owned by RED Intelligence. Unlike many standard arenas, this location features a unique verticality and a central hazard: a massive, spinning propeller that slices through the middle of the main hall. The environment serves as a high-stakes battleground where teams must navigate narrow wooden walkways, rusted metal catwalks, and hay-filled storage areas to secure intelligence or defend their own.

Lore & Background
The facility housing Barnblitz was originally constructed as a storage depot for RED's agricultural surplus before being repurposed into a high-security intelligence vault. The decision to install the massive industrial propeller in the center of the main hall remains a subject of debate among RED engineers, with some claiming it is necessary for ventilation and others suspecting it is a cruel trap designed to thin out enemy numbers during infiltration attempts. Despite its rustic appearance, the barn has been heavily fortified with automated turrets, sentry nests hidden in hay bales, and reinforced steel doors. The constant battle between RED and BLU mercenaries has left the wooden structures scarred by explosives and singed by flamethrowers. It is a place where the quiet hum of farm machinery is drowned out by the roar of rockets and the screams of soldiers caught in the path of the central blade.
In Their Own Story
The Medic adjusted his glasses, peering into the dusty main hall of the barn. The great propeller above spun with a rhythmic *whirrr-click*, a sound that usually signaled death to anyone foolish enough to stand beneath it. "It is inefficient," he muttered, watching a Scout dart across the catwalks below, narrowly avoiding the sweeping blade. "But perhaps... it adds character." Suddenly, an explosion rocked the far wall as a Heavy breached the perimeter. The Medic smiled, tapping his baton against his palm. "Now we see if their reflexes are as sharp as their blades."
Reader's Guide
The map is designed around a central vertical axis dominated by the spinning propeller, forcing players to utilize the surrounding wooden and metal structures for cover. Teams start on opposite sides of this central hazard, with the intelligence briefcase located in a heavily guarded room at the far end of each base. Navigation requires careful use of the multi-level catwalks and ramps that wrap around the barn's interior. Players must frequently jump across gaps or climb ladders to avoid the propeller's path while engaging enemies on narrow walkways. The hay-filled silos provide excellent concealment for ambushes, particularly for Snipers and Spies. Defensive strategies often involve placing sentries in corners that offer a line of sight down the main hall without exposing the defender to the blade. Offense requires precise timing; rushing under the propeller is suicide unless coordinated with a distraction or speed boost from an Engineer's dispenser nearby.
Did You Know?
- The central spinning propeller is one of the few environmental hazards in the game that can instantly kill players regardless of their health or armor.
- Barnblitz was designed to test player movement skills, specifically jumping and timing, due to its narrow walkways and moving obstacles.
- The map's rustic aesthetic contrasts sharply with the high-tech weaponry used by the mercenaries, highlighting the absurdity of the conflict.
